The following Frequency Graphs represent a comparitive analysis between how the ICD-SX712 and ICD-P520 digital recorder captured the EVP “How Can They Leave Us like This” from the auditorium in the Dwight L. Barnes Building in Kettering, Ohio. The EVP is present on both recorders but the ICD-P520 was able to capture a superior lower frequency response than the ICD-SX712. The EVP on the ICD-SX712 was substantially less audible than the P520’s recording. Both recorders were simultaneously recording the event.

EVP @ 4 seconds: We Have To Tell Everyone

Spirits speak through EVP in random energetic burst. So the pitch, speed and tone can alter greatly. These EVP are higher pitched and occur at different rates. You can slow them down or change the pitch to alter them so that they are easier to hear.

Basement: EVP @ 3 seconds

Q: Have You Always Been in This Building

   A: No, Im Not

During Initial Walk: EVP @ 3 seconds

This EVP occurs while we are speaking so pay attention to the shift in voices when Har-Vey is said.

"How Can They Leave Us like This"

Did you hear the difference!?

This Frequency Analysis shows the EVP “How Can They Leave Us like This” as it is happening on the P520 digital recorder. Notice that the EVP happens between 200– 3500 hertz and drops significantly after the 3500 hertz mark on the recorder. The different color wave forms represent the words of the EVP as they occur.

The same recording on two different recorders produced a 12.5 kHz difference. Along with an astonishing EVP.

The ability of this spirit to take the random background noise of the auditorium and turn it into speech is a perfect example of a Transform EVP.

This Frequency Analysis is of the EVP  recorded on the SX. The different color wave forms represent the frequency range of the words “How Can They Leave Us like This” from the EVP as it occurred on the ICD-SX412. The EVP seems to occur between 200- 16,000 hertz on the Sx712.

I want to note that it is common practice by myself, Johnathan Brown, to dual record my EVP sessions throughout an investigation. I feel that it eliminates a great percentage of false EVP. The method is simple; I run a higher end recorder (ICD-SX712, Olympus LS-10) while I also run a lower end, or similar recorder (ICD-P520, ICD-PX333). This allows me to double check for voices, noises or ambient sounds while reviewing audio from the investigation. It should also be noted that I do believe that the lower end recorders allow for a greater chance of EVP. The internal circuitry and wiring adds an ideal electrical white noise that allows spirits to transform the noise into speech. When working with lower end recorders I have to keep in mind that the overall frequency response, lower end components, and software, will at times leave questionable audio. This method takes away that uncertainty and gives me a legitimate resource to double check my work. This makes it even more important that I have a way to discern between false positives and a legitimate EVP.

Victory of Light Paranormal would like to thank Rosewood Arts Center for graciously allowing us to host their Paranormal Kettering Event for a second year. We would also like to thank their guests for allowing us to escort them through the historic Dwight L. Barnes building.

PLEASE USE HEADPHONES WHEN LISTENING TO THE EVP
